Lincoln Electric Kryo® 1 Covered Electrode – Low-Alloy Basic Electrode for Low-Temperature Applications
The Kryo® 1 from Lincoln Electric is a low-alloy, basic covered electrode for demanding welding tasks on steel structures where high mechanical properties and very good impact toughness are required, even at low temperatures. It is particularly suitable for applications where the weld metal must remain reliably load-bearing even under cold stress.
Due to its excellent mechanical properties, very low hydrogen content, and suitability for both AC and DC current, the Kryo® 1 is a high-performance electrode for professional use in steel construction, plant engineering, tank construction, offshore applications, and other safety-critical uses.
Properties
The Kryo® 1 impresses with very good mechanical properties and high toughness down to -60 °C. In addition, it offers good CTOD properties down to -10 °C and extremely low hydrogen content. The deposition efficiency is approximately 110–120 %, enabling economical processing.
The electrode can be welded with both AC and DC current and is suitable for all welding positions, except vertical down.
Technical Advantages
Very good impact toughness down to -60 °C
Good CTOD properties down to -10 °C
Extremely low diffusible hydrogen content
Deposition efficiency approx. 110–120 %
Weldable with AC and DC
Suitable for all positions, except vertical down
Suitable for high-quality welded joints on low-alloy steels
Approvals by ABS, LR, BV, DNV, TÜV, and DB, among others
Classification
The Kryo® 1 is classified according to the following standards:
AWS A5.5: E7018-G-H4R
EN ISO 2560-A: E 50 6 Mn1Ni B 32 H5
Current Type and Polarity
The electrode can be welded with the following current types:
AC / DC (+/-)
This makes the Kryo® 1 flexible and usable with both AC and DC welding machines.
Welding Positions
The Kryo® 1 is suitable for all welding positions, with the exception of vertical down.
